Shortly thereafter, women began buying the clothes in small sizes at Barneys, and so in 2003, the womenswear wing— now the brand’s focus—was created. New York Fashion Week – Rebecca Minkoff Fall 2011 Backstage. This year fashiontv joins Maybelline New York to bring you the latest runway shows from MB Fashion Week – as they happen!

An industry leader in casual luxury handbags, accessories, and apparel, Rebecca Minkoff’s playful and subtly edgy designs can be spotted on girls everywhere from downtown to uptown, in the US and abroad.

Born in San Diego, CA, Rebecca grew up designing and sewing clothing. Her passion for fashion and design prompted her to move New York after high school graduation and pursue a career as a designer.

Rebecca launched a five-piece apparel line in 2001. Her first taste at success came when an “I love New York” tee Rebecca designed made it onto Jay Leno and into US Weekly. Requests for the patriotic T flooded in. Rebecca spent the next few years sewing I Love New York shirts on the floor of her New York apartment.

Music and fashion joined one another at Rebecca Minkoff’s Fall 2011 fashion show. Her collection was inspired by Charlotte Kemp Muhl and encompasses Minkoff’s idea of an urban gypsy. Recipricating the creativity, Muhl and her boyfriend, Sean Lennon were inspired by Minkoff’s collection to create music for the fashion week event.
