I'm 14, a hardworking student, I have my priorities, and I play a variety of sports. I've begun to notice that teen magazines all have styling tips, hints and tricks for long hair. What about us short haired girls? And I mean short-short, not to-your-shoulders short. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against Seventeen magazine and the like, but you'd think that they would have a bit more diversity in terms of hair tips and even pictures.

And on top of that, get involved in the newspaper in college. Build a strong, professional portfolio, have strong recommendations from professors, and intern. Those are not easy jobs to come by and you'd best be damn good at writing and editing in order to come even close to obtaining that job.

Writing is very competitive. You either have it or you don't.

They are mostly purple and have some blue too. They are not in the normal hitop style that Pastry shoes have–they are thinner/smaller. They have two things sewn on the side that look like small pins (one is round and one is a triangle I think). hmmm . . . remember that whatever your personal style may be, they'll be looking for a *Teen Vogue* image . . . so if your person style isn't already like teen Vogue, adapt it to make it compatible.

I think it says a lot more about personal style if you can pull it off with ordinary-priced clothes that would be reasonable for an average Teen Vogue reader to buy or save up for . . . of course anyone can look smashing on an unlimited budget . . .

Also, try to think about what most people *will* submit and try to make your entry stand out. Like, don't say something boring that any other girl could say like, "Hi, my name is ___, and I like shopping, style and FUN !!" . . . think about what makes you unique and let that guide your creative process !!

I used to get that magazine and all i did with it was cut it up to make collages. All of their clothes were hideous and extremely expensive. I remember last summer they had those blaze orange and blueberry colored zip up swimsuits ugh those were the worst!

Sorry to break it to you, but Barbizon is a scam so don't be proud of being part of it. I'm not sure about Teen Vogue, but some magazines (like Seventeen) have modeling contests. If you're right for the job, you'll most likely be "discovered" in your early-mid teens. Being a model (unless you're famous), isn't all it's worked up to be.

She probably used hair rollers and made it messy using a large toothed comb and started from the ends of her hair, and went upward. But I suggest you not do that because I used to and it just gives you A LOT of split ends.

over layering, acid wash, maxi dresses, romers, bib style statement necklaces, harem pants, bahtik prints, vintage florals, harraches and gladiators, big colors are yellow, orange, turqoise, navy's, and off whites.

PS: insteadof going for traditional patterns, go for things that are embellished. Bead work is good, embroidery, pointelle, lace, etc.

Also, although it used to be bad, mixing prints is big. Never mix the same print (plaid shirt, plaid pants) It is a good Idea to mix something with straight lines (plaid, stripes, etc) with something with curves (polka dots, florals, etc) One of my favorite outfits this summer, is just a simple black and white stripe t-shirt, with an extremely busy bright floral skirt, can't go wrong. Be extremely carefull while mixing patterns.

Girls my age are big into Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Coach, Northface fleeces, Abercrombie & Fitch is huge, dressing vintage and more indie, styles from American Apparel and Urban Outffiters… girls a little bit younger are into "scene" styles like skinny jeans with vintage tops and colorful hair in a sort of mullety thing.

Uggs are not in here, they've been out since 2003 but shoes wise… boots, flats, pumps, and flip flops… most of my friends still wear flip flops when it's snowing! Which is beyond me but anyway… that's it in a nutshell My personal style is lots of girly dresses like Betsey Johnson, I love skinny jeans and tops from Urban Outfitters and TopShop, I like to keep my style fresh but I am the same in the fact that I spend too much money on designer bags

k, it really depends on what kind of style ur into, like if u want to dress "preppy" i suggest going to american eagle, aeropostale, A&F, stores like that. and if most of the time whatevr's in the store is in style, but dont go near the clearance, lol. and i would say adidas shelltops for ur shoes. umm get polos, regular tees, jeans that aren't THAT tight, but definetly not that loose either. umm yea plaid shorts are hot, ohh, go to hollister too, cause they have a great summer-y look. o yea, you have 2 have money if u want to get all this, it;s definetly not cheap. k, good luck!!

I have about twenty of these in all different colours and patterns. My favourite place to get them is Claire's.
Cool new colours are light yellow, and of course all spring colours like apple green, powder blue, rose pink. i think polkadots are a popular choice as well
Bad shades would be anything "dusty" or dark, as its spring and we're happy!!!

dark skinny jeans are in and many different style shirts. vans and converse are really popular in shoes and of course the sperrys and rainbows are still in style. make up hasn't really changed much. lots of people are still using hoop bangs and straight hair. the length is pretty much up to you. curly hair is always cute to but not too much frizz

I remember when I was in highschool, the hawaiian theme was very popular.

As a member of this generation, I guess I could Try to fill you in. Other than emo, (which has by now become almost nonexistent), there is the new rave revival, the new hippy revival, classic rock revival, basically a lot of retro trends. That is to say that it has just begun to enter the mainstream. If you were to ask kids what their favorite music to listen to is, a growing percentage would list off 60s, 70s, and 80s bands, along with some new stuff from the current decade. With the new hippy revival, you basically have the return of the ripped jeans, peace signs, psychedelic or retro bands' shirts, etc. I've even seen a few kids wearing the glasses John Lennon used to wear at my school. A lot of people wear band t-shirts like Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, and The Beatles. And there's a lot of underground bands that people are just now getting into around now that try to replicate the sounds of the 60s, and 70s. Bands like The Society of Rockets, Black Mountain, The Blue Van, The Coral, Sky Picnic, Amplified Heat, and Wolfmother all have the same sort of "sound" that past rock groups used to play back in the day. I'm not trying to say that this is my Entire generation, but it's fastly growing percentage. It's grown especially this year. Unfortunately, Hip Hop still has a death grip on the current music industry and fashion, but if you were to look around, even that is sort of crawling back into the underground, it's not as mainstream as it used to be. Anyway, that's what I've been seeing in my school and hometown, peace!

I would say as of now going green is a pretty big trend… and popular products might be anything from ipods to hyrbid cars….

im a teen guy. just take him to a store or ask him what he likes to wear.

My daughter would like to have a doll with hair that she can do like the Bratz magic hair where you can crimp and curl the hair. (I wont buy Bratz they are way to imodestly dressed and represented) I see the teen trends dolls come with curling irons and accessories that look like bratz and the box has photos of curled and uncurled but they do not say that they are anything but props to the doll.- so can you style the Teen trends dolls hair like the Brats and have it stay???

UNless the box specifically states that the doll is for styling or primping puposes, then no. I believe it's because the hair is specially treated to be styled without the use of ACTUAL hot irons or curlers. I agree with the previous answer… you can get her a My Scene or Bratz styling head. You only get a cute and decent looking head so yu need no worry about the horrid hooker trend clothing or ridiculously proportioned bodies. BUT if your daughter is wanting a whole body look to go with the hairstyles, then a good thing to try is one of many 80's or 90's dolls. Primping and hair care WAS huge in those decades so you can find a doll (they were about the size of the teen trends dolls and Barbie size ones) new in box on eBay. I can't remember the larger doll names (but they were very similar to the varietions of Lil Miss dolls by Mattel in the 80's), but some Barbies were: Totally Hair Barbie, Hollywood Hair Barbie, Magic Curl Barbie (with spedial powder to straighten and recurl hair), Glitter Hair Barbie, and Cut & Style Barbie (with hair yu can cut and regrow with extra hair that is included). If yu don't like the "trendier" My Scene or Bratz styling heads, you can also opt for a Disney model or a more toned Barbie or even an older vintage one. Sorry I can't help you with new stuff. Vintage stuff really is cool and your daughter can see what it was like to play and style old school dolls like when you were her age. I found a lisitng with a used doll you mentioned with the curling iron… on closer inspection, the iron appears to be just a faux accessory, much like you'd find on a regular line Barbie salon playset. You can judge by the doll's hair that it is in fact just an accessory… Sorry:

It's a grey leather motorcycle jacket with ribbed trim and it's $198. It says Akira, Chicago & Justsweet for the brands or whatever. I’m looking for popular fashion/makeup trends amongst Japanese, Korean, Chinese teens and young adults.

I dislike my own North American style, and find a lot of inspiration in Asian fashion magazines. While I don’t know if I can pull off most of the styles (I’m 6′, blonde and a size 10!), I want to be able to learn from it. I’m looking for very popular styles, not so much Loli or fairy-kei. The Japanese just copy whatever was cool 15 years ago in the U.S. and try to take it to the next level. I think it looks silly, little Asian people running around trying to look all gangsta or whatever. Be yourself, don’t try copying someone else’s style.

It depends what age you are…in my opinion, Elle is for more woman who are in their late 20s to early 30s. Whereas for teen vogue, it for younger age, mostly early 20s to late 20s.
But i think teen vogue has more fashion tips than Elle. teen Vogue has more tips with what to wear with different style of ppl.

I have a job interview and I have to bring a collage of current teen trends. What are some of your favorites? I was shopping at Forever 21 yesterday & noticed lace is coming back and of course sailor themed outfits for summer. Opinions much needed!

Well, skinny jeans is pretty popular. Yes, lace is a definite. Also, layering lace is pretty popular. Shirts with sequins on them. Loose sweaters, and not-so-tight-fitting tshirts. Shirts that show one shoulder. Leggings underneath shorts.
For boys, skinny jeans as well. Bright colored skinny jeans. Converse, keds, vans. Those sunglasses with the lines on the lenses. Studded belts.

Can anyone who’s read the most recent edition of teen Vogue (April 2011, with Nina Dobrev on the cover) tell me what the style name is of the floral canvas with light brown leather topsiders is? (The ad is a full spread, toward the very beginning of the magazine; maybe 20 pages in [10 spreads in]) Or does anyone have these and know where to buy them? I’ve checked Sperry’s website and couldn’t find them! Thanks!

Hi, this is my 1st time subscribing to Teen Vogue and Seventeen its March 3rd when do you think ill get the march issue

You probably won’t get the march issue. If you do it will be in late march or early april. This is because it takes the magazine company 3-8 weeks to process and ship your orders.
My guess is you will get the April issue.

I am 13 and i am 5"2, My dad is 6"1 and my mum is around my height and i might be a tiny bit taller. My dads family are really tall and i really want to be a model – catwalks. I just recently had a growth spurt, and i am wondering what height i will be by seventeen. I think i am still growing and i know if i want to be a supermodel i will have to be 5"8. Will i be tall enough by seventeen? Help!

For men: (Mothers length + Length of father in CM + 13) Divide that by 2.
For woman: (Mothers length + Length of father in CM – 13) Divide that by 2.

For example:
I am a boy, my mother is 1,67m and my father is 1,76

(167 + 176 + 13) : 2 = 178 cm

Of course this is not 100% Accurate, Do you eat well?, Do you sleep well? Do you smoke, or do you drink alcohol?
