Why do us black people start 90% of the popular trends?

Why are we(black people) always the ones to start something new like breakdancing, tap dancing, rock-n-roll, blues, jazz, rap ect? We even start new words like "bling bling" or "whats up". I think it’s great but I just dont understand it. We must have some kind of gift or something.
WALMARTDIRTY, RAP MUSIC IS NOW THE BIGGEST MUSIC OF ALL TIME. THEY’RE EVEN RAPPING IN IRAQ AND AFGANISTAN

well, apparently you don’t start the trend of proper english, you only ruin the culture with the horrible ‘music’ you call rap and with your slang. We should also include you but I highly doubt you do anything except reap the benefits of your ancestors.

What are some popular hair trends for girls these days?

you’re cool just accept and whether white people will admit it or not we all want to be able to have rhythm like you guys. THere is nothing to compare to a black jazz musician. And a black preacher can move a congregation along with a choir. I love it.

Ummm… because all the trends you’re thinking of are invented by black people? Perhaps it’s your demographic?

Well, first of all, that’s a completely bull$hit statistic. Popular trends are started in many different ways by many different races. Throughout history, different groups have contributed to the popularity of certain cultural changes. Don’t feel special. And don’t have a big head about it. Real change comes from the quiet and reserved. Read something about Rosa Parks if you want more insight into passive change. And move on with your life.

Black people have always been trend-setters. They are creative and usually musically talented. I know what you mean, what are we white people doing, copying stuff? : ) Seems silly to me.

did you do friendship bracelets, neon, seventies hair retro, vote for pedro t shirts, straight as a string hair, friendship pins, rubber bracelets, paperclip wearing, safteypining patches to pants, mohawks, ballroom dancing trend, I think every culture give something that makes a trend. How about people are just cool for who they are you know when a bunch of poeple dress the same way because their fave star does that makes em a sheepole. and their clothes become a uniform!

hey look out for the other cultures, like Spanish speaking people give us alot of our moves too. and white folk help us put that rock and violin into our hip-hop, but we are just gifted in areas like music. it’s a very important part of our culture. so we are always up on something. and we are a happy people, comedians at heart i think sometimes, so we are creative and we come up with things. God created us that way, so love it!

all the items you mentioned are only a drop in the ocean sized bucket full of cool things all over the world.

You really should get out more.

Based upon this question, the gift must be narrow mindedness…

Come on man. Isn’t this question just some kind of reverse racial stereotyping? While I do agree that if it weren’t for the African and African-American influence, out society would be very different (and much poorer in my opinion). I hate to think about life without jazz or the blues… but couldn’t care less about bling-bling.
Where do you get 90% is what I’m asking?

What the hell is "WALMARTDIRTY" ? As far as I’m concerned Walmart sucks and rap music sucks. They are both symptoms of the dumbing-down in our society.

The fact of the matter is that most of the trends started by black people are those trends that are popular among black people and uneducated members of other races. I am not trying to come off as some member of the American Nazi party or anything, but all the people I know that listen to rap are not exactly geniuses. As for rock and roll, it does have its roots in gospel, blues, and jazz, among other things, but it has evolved so much over the past 50 years that you can’t really say that black people started rock and roll. Again at the risk of sounding racist, I would have to say that all the most influential rock bands have been white. One must make the distinction between rock music and pop music and you will see what I am talking about. Elvis Presley, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Neil Young, The Who, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, all of them white. Elvis might have sung quote "black music," but it didn’t pick up until a white boy from Tennessee started recording it. As for blues, did you ever hear of a guy named Stevie Ray Vaughn? He was one of the coolest SOB’s to ever pick up a guitar and play the blues.

White guilt…we AI’s run into the same thing…Kevin Costner and Dances with Wolves…ha ha ha Lack of their own cultures cause "some" people to imitate or take on/imlutate some elses…tribal tattoos, piercings, etc., belong to which ethnic group? Certainly NOT anglo saxon. The only "culture" they (in general) come from is: Stick a flag in it, and its mine. Ever asked (again, in general) a white person where they come from?, who there folks are?, what ethnicity they are?? Most have no idea!! … maybe irish, maybe swede, maybe a Cherokee princess….yeah right!

You have got to be the most ignorant person I have ever encountered. Why do none of the “trends” you stated have absolutely anyhing to do with the advancement of the human race? A white guy invented the computer that you are using, oh and a white man invented the electricity that powers your computer. Are those not popular trends? I would think so. Also, “bling bling” and “whats up” are phrases, not words. “Bling bling” probably because saying and spelling jewelry, necklace, watch, earrings or bracelet would be too hard. “Whats up” is an ignorant phrase. For example,

    Black guy: “whats up”

    Me: “The ceiling.”

You so desperately need an education. There are people and institutions that can help you! Please get an education! I am begging you!
